Please schedule your 6 driving hours directly with our instructor, Joe Strukel. You can contact him directly by email at jstrukel@beas.blueearth.k12.mn.us. You do not need to contact the Community Ed office to arrange your driving time.
Please note: Teens need to pass their written (knowledge test) before scheduling their Behind-the-Wheel instruction hours.
Community Education offers drivers education for teens in the summer. The $400 class fee includes 30 hours of classroom training ($170) and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction ($230). There is an additional $30 fee for students living outside of the BEA school district and who do not attend BEA School.
Pay $170* to reserve your spot in the classroom portion. The $230 Behind-the-Wheel fee is due before you can receive your E-card (formerly blue card), which you will need to take your knowledge/written test for your permit. Once you have your permit, you may schedule your Behind-the-Wheel hours.
*If your child takes the classroom portion in school, this will save you the $170 fee as well as earn 1 credit toward graduation. Students who take Drivers Ed classroom in school must still register and pay for Behind-the-Wheel instruction through Community Ed.
PLEASE NOTE: This Summer Classroom Session requires a minimum of 10 students to run. If we do not reach this number, the class may be canceled.
